Experience the vibrant festivals and lively celebrations that bring Rosario’s community together.
The Sinukmani Festival is a unique celebration in Rosario, held annually in June to honor the town's agricultural heritage as the "Rice Granary of Batangas." Held around June 9, it features a sinukmani cook fest and a competition for the most creative sinukmani, a traditional sticky rice delicacy made with rice, coconut, and sugar. The festival showcases the local produce and involves the participation of all barangays and community organizations.
The Penitensyahan is a solemn Holy Week tradition in Rosario, held on Good Friday. The day begins with a procession featuring higantes (giant figures), a large crucifix, and a big rosary, with various barangays and local businesses contributing their own floats and mock-ups. Participants also include pilgrims who visit the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes and make an ascent to Tombol Hill as acts of penance and devotion. The morning activities are followed by a more traditional, lengthy evening procession, where statues of Jesus, Mama Mary, and various saints are carried through the streets. The event culminates on Easter Sunday with the Salubong and Pagbati celebrations, where young women perform traditional flag-waving dances in front of the parish church.
